The Botland Collection, based between Antwerp, Amsterdam, and Barcelona, contains hundreds of photographs that map out in their own distinctive manner the History of Photography from the second half of the 20th century to the present day. It has been assembled by Marianne van der Land and Nicolaas Bot since the early 90s. The common denominator forming the spine of the collection is the word “eclecticism”. All the historical currents in photography are represented and the images leap out from them to weave another story. Additionally, there is a variety of mediums: collages, Polaroids, single shots, series, or sequences of portfolios, vintage pieces and modern copies, in black and white and in colour.

This collection of photographs has been selected from the full collection to introduce new names from the History of Photography and undeniable icons representing the main movements in international photography. This selection places a certain prominence on Belgium and Nordic photographers, given the affinity of the collectors with that area. Accordingly, it will be a chance for the public to see and discover new works whilst gaining an understanding of how a collection is built and what the main traits hiding behind the collection itself are.
